Agreement with Mobile Entertainment Corporation
25 June, 2002
Forbidden Technologies plc and Mobile Entertainment Corporation Develop Video Content for QUALCOMM's BREW(TM) Platform
Forbidden Technologies plc, ("Forbidden" or the "Company") which is
developing and marketing proprietary technology for video distribution
over the fixed line and mobile Internet, announces an agreement with
Mobile Entertainment Corporation (MEC), the providers of premium
entertainment across mobile platforms to develop video content for
QUALCOMM's Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless(TM) (BREW(TM))
platform. MEC has agreed to use Forbidden's mobile video compression
technology to enhance the content of MEC's sports, music, gaming and
lifestyle channels.
MEC plans to use Forbidden's video compression technology to
develop full screen, high frame rate video clips for BREW-enabled
handsets. Using the BREW Distribution System, QUALCOMM will make the
video-based applications available to wireless service providers
deploying the BREW-based services to wireless subscribers. Currently,
KTF in Korea, KDDI in Japan and Verizon Wireless in the United States
provide BREW-enabled products and services to their customers. More
than one million end users around the world have purchased and
activated BREW-enabled handsets since November 2001.
Amy Mokady, Director of Business Development, QUALCOMM Internet
Services said;
"QUALCOMM is pleased that MEC and Forbidden have
chosen the BREW(TM) solution to deliver their applications and
services to multiple wireless service providers worldwide. We look
forward to the exciting new content that they plan to deliver to the
BREW marketplace."
Greg Hirst, Business Development Director, Forbidden Technologies
commented:
"Our technology will allow MEC to deploy high quality
video content within its Mobile Channels. It will give wireless
service providers compelling content with which to increase revenues
from their existing infrastructure.
"We are pleased to be a part of this dynamic
relationship with MEC and look forward to working with the BREW(TM)
team at QUALCOMM."
Tim Hammond, Chief Executive Officer, MEC said:
"The mobile generation is anxious to receive
entertainment content that utilizes the full spectrum of rich
media. With Forbidden's technology and QUALCOMM's BREW solution, MEC
can launch new and exciting mobile video channels to attract a broad
customer base who use existing wireless networks, and add the United
States and the Far East to MEC's current pan-European operator
reach."
Forbidden Technologies plc

Forbidden's range of end-to-end video communication solutions
provides a set of tools for advertisers, global companies and
e-learning providers who believe that the moving image is the best way
to get their message across.
Mobile Entertainment Corporation
