IBC Rising Stars uses FORscene Android workflow
6th Sep, 2011
Forbidden Technologies, the AIM quoted developer of the market leading Cloud video platform
FORscene, today announced that it will be providing the IBC Rising Stars with five Android tablets
for use at the exhibition. IBC Rising Stars is a representation of students and young professionals
given the opportunity to get up close and personal to the latest equipment, understand some of the
complex issues facing the industry and share in the IBC experience. Loaded with the latest FORscene
application these participants will shoot, edit and publish material to the IBC Facebook page, IBC
YouTube channel and Digital Rapids for website distribution during and after the exhibition.
Furthermore two of the IBC Rising Stars participants will be sharing their hands on experience with
exhibition visitors at a dedicated session at the IBC Production Village at 16:00 on the 11th September
2011.
Forbidden has extended its FORscene platform to professional tablet use. The full editing and
publishing workflows - including where required shooting and uploading - is available on Android
devices. Apple’s iPad tablet is restricted to the simpler review and commenting functionality.
In all cases, FORscene’s Cloud access means that edits of material in the Cloud are immediately
available worldwide both on tablets and standard desktop and laptop computers.
FORscene’s biggest customers use the powerful FORscene Server, and a software version of this
is being ported to run on Android tablets. This simplifies use in the professional news environment by
minimising internet access requirements while providing the benefits of access to video libraries,
metadata and edits stored on the Cloud to all participants.
For the IBC Rising Stars the Android tablets will shoot material at 720p, compress and upload to
the Cloud, edit and publish from the same single device. When publishing, the original 720p source
material will be used to conform the final sequence on the Android tablet ensuring the best available
quality is published as an H.264 file. A full production lifecycle, within a single device.
Stephen Streater, CEO of Forbidden Technologies plc, said:
"Forbidden Technologies is a leading technological innovator in the field of video post
production. It gives us great pleasure to be part of the IBC Rising Stars project, helping to design
the workflows of the future with those who will be using them professionally."
