Molinare

Molinare chose the FORscene Cloud-based video editing platform for its client Studio Lambert for the new ITV1 production ‘Paradise Lost: Florida’. Jo Crawley, Head of Production, Studio Lambert, said: "We’ve used FORscene on a number of productions because of the savings it delivers". Kate George, Head of Post Production at Molinare post production, commented: "The FORscene solution includes a powerful set of tools. We found it quick and easy to set-up".

The North West media industry publication How Do has an article: "Tapeless technology for Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital documentary". "[Shot] on the tapeless XDCAM EX video systems and uploaded ... using the FORscene Cloud-based video editing platform ... all the clips were available to access through a web-browser, regardless of where they were being filmed".

FORscene has around 1,200 hours of professionally shot 16:9 video uploaded each day. Now mobile phones can film in widescreen, a 16:9 option has been added to the Clesh Web upload.

Children’s Hospital

Maverick Television selected FORscene for the ITV1 production ‘Children’s Hospital’. Maverick Head of Facilities said: "FORscene was easy to use and flexible when adding important information about stories, leading to a more productive use of edit suites after filming. Giving the Executive Producer access to rushes and cuts regardless of location was amazingly helpful". Sumners Chief Engineer noted: "The support for file based media is a significant addition to the FORscene toolset and we believe that Cloud based solutions will be an important element of project management moving forward".

Air Post provided FORscene to Transparent Television for logging, search, shot selection and rough cut editing of the the BBC2 programme ‘Restoration Roadshow’. Jo Clements of Air Post said: "FORscene’s flexibility has enabled us to provide it to clients, improving their workflow options".

The regional site How-Do reports on FORscene’s latest series "May the Best House Win". It notes that 3SixtyMedia, based at Quay Street in Manchester, is jointly owned by ITV Productions and BBC Resources.

3SixtyMedia, part of ITV Manchester, has provided FORscene for the post production of ‘May the Best House Win’, produced by Shiver Productions, which began broadcasting yesterday. The Post Production Facilities Coordinator at 3SixtyMedia said: "Having provided FORscene previously, we’re happy to recommend it to our clients as an efficient and effective solution. We are increasingly being asked to provide access to material outside of the edit suite. We have successfully extended the 3Sixty brand to our clients away from the building as we can now deliver our service anywhere".

Broadcast talks about Forbidden’s Brightcove partnership in its latest edition: "Broadcasters using Brightcove to publish and distribute content to the web are to be given access to Forbidden Technologies’ cloud-based editing tools from within the online video platform". They list some Brightcove broadcast customers who can now access FORscene through Brightcove: "Current Brightcove customers include Virgin Media Television, BSkyB, UKTV, Channel 4, ITV and Five".

BVE summary

Forbidden’s stand was well attended this year, with Cloud Computing firmly entering the lexicon in broadcast post-production. Interest was boosted not only following the packed Cloud panel discussion, which allowed FORscene to show off its world leadership, but from other talks and panels during the show where some of Forbidden’s major customers spoke about the benefits FORscene provides.

Shyama

Obhi Chatterjee’s widescreen feature film Shyama brings Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore’s classic Bengali dance musical to a global audience for the first time. Its pioneering digital distribution strategy uses a Creative Commons licence which allows personal copying and sharing. The film’s dance star Kaberi said: "Shyama may be one of the first films to have a commercially viable business model based on allowing personal copying and having a free online version".
