Presentations at SBE

Following a round of business meetings in the US and Canada last week, Forbidden is this week presenting a series of talks at the Society of Broadcast Engineers. The first talks are being held today at 12:00 noon (WNED-TV Studio Boardroom, 140 Lower Terrace, Buffalo, NY) and at 7.00pm (WXXI-TV/Radio, 280 State Street, Rochester, NY). Open source

Another Forbidden contribution to the Open Source community has been released. The new feature increases the flexibility with which Perlbal can hand off web requests to the different components of its backend server, increasing efficiency and throughput of FORscene.

US trips

Forbidden Executives have a number of US trips planned for this month, with the first two taking place this week. FORscene's web technology means that it works well from anywhere in the world, including North America.

Proxy box

FORscene allows people to review and edit their video from anywhere on the internet. Forbidden's new Linux proxy box gives Local Area Network access speeds to videos captured locally or seen previously - while preserving all the advantages of video access from anywhere on the internet.

ISP upgrade

Forbidden's main ISP is upgrading its power supply tonight at 24:00 GMT (19:00 EST). FORscene users who are logged on at the time will experience a short period of downtime.

Linux upgrade

To ensure reliability, high volume customers use a Forbidden Linux box to upload videos into FORscene. The latest FORscene Load - Linux software provides simultaneous real time capture, compression and upload using the latest Blackbird 5 video codec and recent higher quality Impala audio codec.

AAF

Professional FORscene users have standard EDL output formats to export their edits from FORscene to other high end editing systems, and a variety of XML files have been available to FCP users for some time. Now Avid users can move edits made on FORscene into their Avids via AAF files.
