Java Web Start

Forbidden's powerful video post production platform runs in a standard web browser without requiring installation or configuration. An optional configuration to enhance performance has been made redundant now Sun's Java Web Start technology is available to all FORscene and Clesh users: the full performance is now available without configuration.

Broadcast Buyer reports on Forbidden's FORscene DV: "a broadcast quality upload and export capability for its collaborative web-based editing and publishing platform ... The application is of particular relevance in time critical reporting, such as news. On location journalists can concentrate on filming, leaving the video editing to professionals who have access to the wider context, as well as library footage".

Review upgrade

FORscene Review now supports full PAL and NTSC resolution. Combined with the recent video quality upgrades, this makes FORscene Review the ideal tool for reviewing High Definition (HD) productions. Executive production staff can look through programmes as they are made at any time, from anywhere.

New codec

Forbidden's latest video codec, Blackbird 4, is now released on all FORscene servers. Videos uploaded with web upload and the latest FORscene load software are stored at higher quality, and videos published for web playback are also better quality.

Our new website features FORscene and Clesh on the home page. It is now much easier to find out about the latest features, sign up for a free trial, and upgrade to the full version.

Linux upgrade

High volume users upload video into FORscene using Forbidden's Linux boxes. If unplugged while in use, upload now resumes automatically on reconnection to the internet - even if reconnection is to somewhere else. The latest boxes capture, compress and upload DV tapes in real time; this ability is now supported on the previous generation of hardware - and the single processor generation of boxes before that.

The Wall Street Reporter has a three page illustrated article on Forbidden Technologies. In the article, entitled: "Bringing Web-based video editing to the YouTube generation", they look into the technology and markets for FORscene. "Forbidden Technologies (LSE:FBT) is bringing professional video editing and content management solutions to the mass market. Applications are browser-based, allowing users to store and manipulate video elements online".
