Java Web Start
FORscene and Clesh are normally run within a web browser. With
Java Web Start,
you can run web-based software as a desktop application without the normal Java memory limit.
To see this, try the Web Start version of the Clesh
guest account.

FORscene upgrade
FORscene Load on the Mac, which allows DV videos to be compressed locally before uploading to the server,
has improved upload reliability on poor internet connections. It is available from the Forbidden
website.

Roundtable

Documentary
FORscene is being used increasingly by professionals for editing and publishing.
The video:
"A tale of Two Lakes
(the Beauty and the Beast)"
- a 25 minute documentary - is the latest professional video to be published on the Clesh Showreel using FORscene.

this year at the Broadcast & Technology Expo in New York.
Forbidden's CEO, Stephen Streater, this morning gave a one hour presentation
to the Expo delegates on FORscene and how it was being used in the workshop.

Blackbird codec
The next release of Forbidden's Blackbird 3 video codec,
and Blackbird 4 which will be released shortly,
both take 1MB less memory than the current release.
This will help web videos published in Forbidden's Java format,
and all FORscene and Clesh users.

Blackbird codec
Work on the latest version of Forbidden's Blackbird video editing codec is at an advanced stage.
With internet connections continuing to improve rapidly, the main thrust of this codec
is an improvement in picture quality - though a datarate reduction is added for good measure.
