SUNY

The State University of New York (SUNY) have completed their student series about local foods, whch was made and published with FORscene. They are now organising a series of FORscene events for October with Forbidden's Canadian distributor, Formidable Technologies. More on this in October.

Recent press

The adoption of FORscene by Company Pictures has been picked up in 4rfv. It reports: "Helen Flint, head of production for Company Pictures, part of the All3Media Group, commented: ‘FORscene has changed the way we work by making the computer the main visual tool for reviewing. In time, we expect to rid ourselves of tapes altogether, thereby dramatically reducing archive space demands and the associated costs of physical storage’".

IBC accounts

IBC 2007 has set a new record for the number of people to sign up for a FORscene show trial account. With over 150 signed up so far, average time spent logged on has also set a new record as people experience for themselves the benefits of a web-based approach to video tools.

The Evening standard picked up on the launch of FORscene DV: "This is the first application that enables professionals to edit broadcast items shot on location with web-based tools".

EU verdict

The EU continues to protect European suppliers of media players, such as Forbidden Technologies, against illegal monopolistic behaviour. Today's verdict ruled against Microsoft in almost all respects, including in their illegal distribution of their media player. You can see some user generated content distributed using Forbidden's Java player on our Clesh Showreel page.

IBC 2007 podcasts

Podcasts can be watched for free on mobile phones, video iPods and PCs. IBC 2007 is using Forbidden's FORscene to podcast television reports of their event.

IBC TV News

IBC TV News, which has its own cable channel for the hotels in the Amsterdam area, is using FORscene to distribute its content to mobile phones. IBC TV News use their own branded version of Forbidden's FORscene mobile player.

IBC Citizen TV

IBC 2007 has a citizen journalism website. Videos shot on mobile phones are edited on the web in FORscene. They are then published and hosted by FORscene.

CBC

CBC is using the state-of-the-art FORscene service to view dailies, fine cuts and for approvals. Series using FORscene include: Intelligence (filming in Vancouver), Sophie (filming in Montreal), Heartland (filming south of Calgary), JPOD (filming in Vancouver), MVP (filming in London), and the Border (filming in Toronto). Productions on board are: No Opportunity Wasted, Fashion File, Test the Nation, The Week the Womoen Went and the Gemini Awards.

IBC 2007

Company Pictures

Forbidden Technologies has been selected by Company Pictures to provide wide area reviewing capabilities on its award-winning productions of Shameless and Skins for Channel 4. The UK’s largest independent production company has adopted the FORscene platform to view rushes and provide timely feedback, removing a reliance on tapes and couriers.

FORscene DV

Forbidden has announced the imminent launch of FORscene DV at IBC 2007. For the first time, FORscene can output broadcast quality video directly from its web interface. The system also enables effective transfer of DV quality video back from the field over standard internet links.

FORscene upgrades

A growing number of customer accounts have multiple users. The account managers set access levels for each user, and can monitor their usage. The latest batch of FORscene upgrades improves this account management facility.
