Staff update

After six years of outstanding service, Wendy is moving on from rôle as PA to the CEO and Office Manager. All the staff at Forbidden thank her for her exceptional contribution over that time and wish her well in her new job.

CALM

The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is delivering comedy across the net, using FORscene to podcast its incredibly successful Stand Up To Stop Suicide comedy night. Jane Powell, national director of CALM, said: "The ability to publish podcasts of the event quickly is ... especially important when targeting a youth audience. With Forbidden’s help we have been able to turn around the production of these podcasts in a few days, which has kept up the momentum on this most important campaign".

The FORscene web-based video solution was Forbidden's main feature at Broadcast Live this year, and it attracted a consistently high level of interest. Visitors are continuing to sign up for the free show trial account, taking the opportunity to sample the benefits the web brings.

Stephen Streater, Forbidden's CEO, will be giving the last in his series of talks on the future shape of the video industry with a second talk on Citizen Journalism in the Deliver theatre at 14:45. Visitors who wish to experiment for themselves should visit Forbidden's stand and collect a free user name with access to the BL07 account.

Broadcast Live 2007

Visitors to Broadcast Live 2007 today will be able to see two talks by Forbidden's CEO, Stephen Streater. The first, Citizen Journalism, is at 11.45 in the Deliver section with the second, on Mashups, at 14:00 in the Manage section. Forbidden Technologies is exhibiting at stand G58, which is next to the Deliver and Manage theatres.

EDL import

FORscene now accepts Edit Decision List (EDL) import from Avid and Final Cut. FORscene also supports EDL export to these systems, so edits started in FORscene can move to a high end system for editing by Avid/FCP editors, and then back again for wide area review, comment and fine tuning.

Ravensbourne

FORscene is being used by another university. Ravensbourne College of Design and Communications is showcasing Forbidden's FORscene web-based editing, publishing and hosting system at their annual Rave On Air event this week, where student Citizen Journalists are creating and publishing videos on a wide range of topics.

Security

Banks and other secure websites use the https protocol to ensure passwords are secure. FORscene now forces users to log on through this protocol.

Clesh moderation

Websites which make Clesh available to their users have a moderation option. Visitors to their site can edit video in Clesh and drop their edited video into the Clesh moderation bin. The website managers then have the full power of FORscene available to check (and edit) the videos before publishing them on their website.
