We have been upgrading our local Wimbledon web server. This does not affect those FORscene users on our big internet backbone servers.

IBC2005

Forbidden is exhibiting at IBC2005, Europe's biggest broadcast show. The focus will be on FORscene, Forbidden's radical installation-free software for logging, editing, reviewing and web/mobile publishing.

With the latest upgrades to FORscene, providing web publishers with chapters, slides and most recently colour correction, companies with access to the web should have no difficulty getting their message across.

Colour correction

FORscene, Forbidden's logging, editing, review and publishing software, has been upgraded again. In the latest versions, you can set brightness and contrast of each clip, before clients review videos or they are published.

The article explains: "Forscene is a Java-enabled editing and logging system that runs in a web browser - this means it can run on any PC as there is no software installation... The facility is piloting the product with ... broadcast clients as part of its development cycle".

Cache upgrade

FORscene now comes with better cache performance. This is particularly noticeable on the most popular version of Java, version 1.4, and improves performance on slower connections.

Slideshows and chapters

FORscene, the world's leading installation-free software for remote access video logging, content management, editing, web/mobile publishing and client review, has been upgraded again. The current version supports slideshows and chapters. Slides can be edited in alongside the video. The exact start and end frames of the slides and chapters can be edited, along with the video, audio and comments, using FORscene's active timeline. When published on the web by FORscene, viewers can (without having to install any software) watch the video/audio with associated slides, or select only particular chapters to look through.

Logging update

Logging is a vital feature for professional programme makers, and internet access to material is proving a valuable bonus. FORscene's new logging capability is in full use, with hundreds of hours of video material being logged and reviewed by around twenty loggers, PDs and researchers.
