Case study
This month's Business Communicator has a comprehensive two page case study of the way Misys is using Forbidden's FORpresentation. "The company appointed consultants Forbidden to work with them to create the CEO presentation ... They used combined video - a richer medium than video on its own, with a combination of video, voiceover slides, other images and other films spliced together to make a 20-30 minute production".

Online Recruitment Magazine highlighted: "* Internal Importance. Internal communications is a dedicated function in seven out of ten corporates, and over eighty percent of directors state internal and external communications are of equal importance". PersonnelToday.com quotes Graham Opie, research director at Vanson Bourne: "Despite the best efforts of HR and comms departmental heads, the research shows that effective internal communication across a disparate network of global offices remains a huge challenge". Luckily, Forbidden's FORpresentation tool is available to enable simple and effective corporate communications.

The independent research commissioned by Forbidden is continuing to cause a stir. "... while 64% of the heads of internal communications surveyed see value in new visual media, less than one in ten has tried the technology", reports NMA this week.

Save the Children's use of FORweb has attracted further interest. "Save the Children has launched its first video-streaming email campaign to highlight the global devastation caused by the HIV/Aids virus..." says Marketing Direct. "The 30-second video-clip is the first time video-streaming has been used by the charity as the primary launch vehicle for a campaign."

HR Gateway reports on the latest research on corporate communications: "Despite internal comms being a dedicated function in 70% of the firms questioned, over six in ten respondents said that even given the emphasis they were still very bad at communicating with employees". Forbidden Technologies commissioned the research by the independent research company Vanson Bourne to look into areas where FORpresentation has been successful at attracting customers.

Letter
This week's New Media Age has a letter from Forbidden's Business Development Director, Greg Hirst. Marks & Spencer made their shareholders go to the Royal Festival Hall in London to hear Stuart Rose talking about Philip Green's recent takeover proposals. As Greg points out: "Instead of making the trip, shareholders could have turned on their PCs and watched the action live from the comfort of their homes or offices via video streaming". Forbidden's recent AGM was streamed live in this way, using FORlive.

Netimperative has picked up on the research report commissioned by Forbidden Technologies into issues affecting the corporate communications market. Commenting on the report's conclusions, Netimperative says: "Many UK firms have been slow to adopt new communication technology - such as video streaming - causing a communications crisis within UK-based global organisations".

EDL export
Forbidden's editing and publishing tool, FORscene, has been upgraded to export standard format Edit Decision Lists (EDLs). Videos edited in FORscene could already be published on the web and on mobile phones; with this latest upgrade, videos can now be exported to high end editing systems for output at broadcast quality.

FORmobile Java player
You can now watch Forbidden videos on Java mobile phones. There are already 120,000,000 Java enabled phones in use. FORmobile uses the MIDP-1.0 Java standard. Simply download the videos like any other Java program. On Nokia phones, the Nokia MIDP-1 extensions are used automatically to improve performance.

Timecode
Professional users will be pleased to hear that videos edited in FORscene can now use the time code on the original source tapes. This makes FORscene compatible with currently installed editing equipment.

IBC update
FORscene has been generating intense interest amongst professional users. Forbidden will be addressing this market directly at IBC this September with the launch of the high end version of FORscene at the show.

FORscene NTSC
Forbidden's collaborative video editing and publishing tool, FORscene, has been upgraded to support NTSC. The software automatically detects whether the video is in PAL or NTSC and works accordingly. Our customers in the USA and Japan can now edit video in their native format.
