Server upgrade
The Forbidden server array used for paid pilots, shareholders and the Clesh Showreel is being upgraded. The first server has already been replaced by a new faster server with an additional 2,000 hours of capacity.

Mac upgrade
FORscene Load Mac 1.6.10 is available for download from the website. This version allows users to log in under their own user name rather than by account name, increasing security and traceability.

Breathe Post

HolidayNet
The holiday & travel information site HolidayNet.com is Forbidden's travel partner. They are offering travel video clips from their 2,500 hours of professionally shot content to the industry, with no up-front cost. Nicholas Rogovsky, travel film director and MD of HolidayNet, said: "The TIA reports page visits where video is present up by 29% and conversions to booking up by an average of 26%. Our independently produced video content allows all tour operators and travel agents easy access to video for their own product marketing".

Proxy box
The FORscene Linux proxy box can capture 24 hour video streams locally. FORscene's efficient navigation then gives quick access to material relevant for review and editing, which is uploaded in real time as required. By using client machines for the CPU intensive tasks of compression and playback, the FORscene proxy box scales well to multiple 24-hour TV channels.

Forbidden's LA-based partner myAWOL, which is preparing to showcase Clesh and FORscene, is already starting to attract press comment. In its article A Music Label For The Digital Age, Techcrunch says: "The big music labels have made it patently obvious that they don't know how to deal with the internet ... myAWOL (My Artists Without Labels) ... is taking a multi-pronged approach to tackle the music industry with the web".

White balance
Colour differences between artificial light / daylight, or light at different times of day, show up on video. FORscene allows a simple way to set which colour appears as white, allowing scenes shot in different light to be matched. The example video below shows the subtle but perceptible changes in colour before and after white balance is applied:

JPEG export
FORscene can publish and host videos in a wide range of formats. The new image export button allows stills from edited videos to be published and hosted too, as can be seen in this example.

Work experience
Forbidden Technologies has a history of providing work experience for students and school children. With Wimbledon Fortnight starting this week, yesterday's project for Caroline and Zoella was for each to plan, shoot, edit and publish a visitors' guide to restaurants in Wimbledon. Mac upgrade
Version 1.6.8 of FORscene Load Mac is available for download. This allows Mac users (including those running Leopard) to upload video, audio and stills into FORscene. It is suitable for people with high quality source material, such as DV or HD, as the video is compressed locally before uploading, speeding up the upload process by up to twenty times.

TrueTube
TrueTube, which makes Forbidden's Clesh web-based editing system available to their visitors, has updated their website. TrueTube provides a forum for school children to debate ethical issues of the day through the medium of video, and is available to schools in the UK.

FORscene upgrade
FORscene has been upgraded today. This upgrade reduces the number of mouse clicks for typical storyboard users, speeding up the editing process.

Servers upgraded
Forbidden has upgraded the servers used by FORscene's broadcast customers. This upgrade included improvements tried and tested on our normal servers over the last two months. As with other upgrades, the FORscene service continued uninterrupted.
