Citizen Journalism at IBC 2006

IBC 2006 saw the launch of IBC's first citizen journalism venture, with Forbidden's FORscene platform used as the base of the project which allowed show attendees to contribute their own video stories about what was hot at IBC through their mobile phones.

News clips were sent to the IBC Citizen TV base and edited by the IBC news team using FORscene, which automatically formatted and compressed the video into mobile-size clips. To ensure a variety of contributions, IBC Citizen TV also distributed Nokia N93 smartphones to a mixture of contributors from students to delegates.

In addition to the citizen journalism project, FORscene was also used to send daily video news highlights to visitors' mobiles, for the third consecutive year and for the first year ever, news highlight videos were also available as video podcasts.
