Maverick Television uses FORscene for hospital documentary

All3Media Company uses FORscene on major ITV series

Forbidden Technologies today announced that Maverick Television,
part of the All3Media group, selected FORscene, Forbiddens Cloud-based video editing platform, for the upcoming production of Childrens Hospital, which will be broadcast on ITV1.

Maverick, the independent producer behind How to Look Good Naked, shot footage for Childrens Hospital, a new documentary, on location at the Royal Manchester Childrens Hospital.

Shooting was conducted on an XDCAM EX tapeless video system.
FORscene enabled production staff to view and log the footage,
adding frame-accurate metadata to clips, from remote locations via the web. With a number of patient stories running throughout shooting, production staff annotated material ensuring the efficient transfer of clips to edit suites in post-production.

Available through a web-browser, frame accurate searchable metadata allowed clips to be ordered according to the distinct story lines being followed granting efficient post production editing.

Donna Mulvey-Jones, Head of Facilities at Maverick Television, said:

“This production produced a lot of stories and the key for the production team was to ensure they could monitor how they each developed. FORscene was easy to use and flexible when adding important information about stories, leading to a more productive use of edit suites after filming. Giving the Executive Producer access to rushes and cuts regardless of location was amazingly helpful”.

Roger Sanderson, Chief Engineer at Sumners post-production, said:

“We have a lot of experience with productions using tapeless formats and the issues that can occur. We found FORscene to be a benefit to workflow enhancements we can offer. The support for file based media is a significant addition to the FORscene toolset and we believe that Cloud based solutions will be an important element of project management moving forward”.

Pete Burns, Project Manager, Forbidden Technologies said:

“We are pleased to be working with Maverick and Sumners on this project. Broadcast productions are moving to HD and tapeless formats. Adding and searching metadata is invaluable, making FORscene’s file based workflows increasingly attractive”.
