FORscene upgrade
FORscene
has had another upgrade. Just as with other
web services such as Google, upgrades appear to end users automatically.
The new version tidies up some loose ends and sets the
scene for a more sophisticated Chat system for collaboration by broadcast productions.

reports on the completion of a major new post production project with Granada Media.
"The project involved utilising Forbidden's FORscene web-based post production platform for ingesting, logging, review and shot selection".
Wendi Rose, production manager commented: "The ingest and logging facilities and web-based capability of FORscene was a crucial part of a more efficient and cost-effective process. The benefits of the platform were well known to us because of its successful employment on the first series last year, and further developments since then made it the perfect solution for us again".

Save the Children's use of FORscene continues to generate coverage,
with Monday's theibcdaily reporting:
"Save the Children and Forbidden Technologies have highlighted the
further adoption of new media in the charities sector, with the use of
Forbidden's FORscene web-based post production platform to distribute
footage to broadcasters ... The video diary was edited down to a six
minute piece and FORscene was used to log the footage. Access details
to FORscene accounts were then emailed out to broadcasters who were then
able to review the footage over the web, [and] decide ... which shots they wanted".

IBC round up
The power of Forbidden's FORscene web-based video platform
was appreciated more than ever at IBC this year.
The press releases from both the BBC and ITV in the UK,
combined with the two separate uses by IBC, served to
demonstrate that providing video tools over the web
for broadcast, web, mobile and podcast delivery
is now a reality.

Ogg
FORscene outputs a range of formats for web, mobile, podcasting and broadcast.
The free format "Ogg" is now included: Vorbis for audio and Theora for video.
